What initially drew you to the travel and tourism industry, and how did you find your way to Activitar?
What initially drew me to the travel and tourism industry was my interest in continuous learning and gaining a deeper understanding of how the industry operates. When I was presented with the opportunity to work at Activitar, I was intrigued by the role as it offered exposure to a unique and dynamic side of the tourism sector that was both different and engaging. As I gained experience and developed my knowledge while working at Activitar, my interest in the industry continued to grow.
I found my way to Activitar through LinkedIn while seeking a job opportunity that matched my interests. When I was offered a role as a Sales Analyst with the Activitar sales team, I was pleased to accept the position and take on a challenge that pushed me beyond my comfort zone, allowing me to grow both professionally and personally.
Can you share a fulfilling experience or achievement during your time at Activitar that has shaped your perspective on the company’s mission and goals?
One of the most fulfilling experiences during my time at Activitar has been witnessing the company’s growth firsthand, particularly from a distribution perspective. Being part of the distribution team has allowed me to experience the introduction of multiple new OTAs, which has given me a deeper appreciation of how essential these distribution partners are to Activitar’s overall mission and long-term goals. It has shown me the importance of building strong, reliable distribution channels and how Activitar plays a key role in connecting suppliers to global travellers in a meaningful and impactful way.

Can you describe a specific instance where you’ve witnessed Activitar’s core values in action within the distribution team?
A specific instance where I witnessed Activitar’s core values in action within the distribution team was during the onboarding and integration of new OTAs. Throughout this process, our team consistently worked together with a customer-focused mindset by working closely across departments and with external partners to ensure smooth integrations.
Despite technical challenges and tight timelines, our team remained committed to assisting both our suppliers and distribution partners. This experience highlighted Activitar’s dedication to teamwork and delivering value, emphasizing how the company’s core values are incorporated in the way our team works.
Benefits of OTAs & Customer Care
Which OTAs are Activitar affiliated with, and can you expand on the loading fee?
Activitar is currently affiliated with several major OTAs, such as GetYourGuide, Viator, Manawa, ActivityHub, ExperienceGifts, Geronigo, Musement, TripNDiscovery, InsideGuide, Klook & Civitatis.
Regarding the loading fee, it applies only to GetYourGuide, Viator, and Klook. For these platforms, there is a standard fee of R150 per product for the process of loading and setting up products. For all other OTAs, we do not charge a loading fee.
Why is it imperative for a supplier that wants to grow their business to be engaged with OTAs?
It is essential for a supplier who wants to grow their business to be engaged with OTAs because these platforms provide access to a global customer base that suppliers might not be able to reach on their own. OTAs help increase visibility, bookings and provide valuable insights into market demand and customer preferences.
OTAs act as a connection between suppliers and a wide audience making them a crucial partner for growth, revenue generation, and long-term success in the tourism industry.
How does Activitar prioritize the customer experience throughout the distribution process, and what measures are in place to ensure supplier satisfaction?
Activitar prioritizes the customer experience by maintaining clear, consistent communication throughout the entire distribution process. The distribution team does regular follow-ups with suppliers ensuring they are kept fully informed of their progress, key changes and next steps. Suppliers are also promptly notified of any updates, changes or live product confirmations received from OTAs, allowing them to remain informed and confident throughout the onboarding and distribution process.
Once distribution is complete, Activitar continues to place strong focus on customer distribution support. Any queries or challenges provided by suppliers are addressed promptly and handled with care ensuring timely assistance and clear guidance. Our team remains involved until the matter is resolved or escalated beyond our control, ensuring suppliers feel supported at every stage.

What is Activitar’s strategy for building and maintaining strong relationships with OTAs?
Activitar’s strategy for building and maintaining strong relationships with OTAs is knowing the importance of close collaboration, accountability and ongoing communication. From my experience, we work proactively with OTA partners to ensure that products are accurately mapped, availability and pricing are correctly pulled through and any technical or operational issues are resolved as quickly as possible. This helps maintain trust and ensures a smooth booking experience for suppliers and their customers.
We also place strong emphasis on understanding each OTA’s specific requirements and expectations. By understanding suppliers accordingly and keeping OTAs informed of updates, changes or delays, we are able to manage relationships transparently and professionally. Regular follow-ups and clear communication allow us to address concerns early and maintain strong working partnerships.
How does Activitar differentiate itself from other distribution companies in terms of its offerings and services to suppliers?
Activitar sets itself apart from other distribution companies by offering suppliers a flexible and hands-on approach. From my experience, Activitar doesn’t just push products to multiple OTAs, it gives suppliers full control over pricing, availability, seasons and inventory in one central system, ensuring everything is accurate and up to date in real time. This makes managing distribution much easier and more efficient.
By consistently delivering reliable data, supporting both suppliers and OTAs throughout the distribution process, and taking ownership of challenges as they arise, Activitar strengthens long-term relationships with OTAs and positions itself as a dependable distribution partner.
Leadership and Team Dynamics
What leadership qualities or approaches do you find most effective in managing the distribution team at Activitar? How do you foster a collaborative and supportive team environment within the distribution department?
In my experience as a member of the distribution team at Activitar, I’ve found that effective leadership is built on clear communication, empathy, and a solutions-focused mindset. Having an approachable and available team lead such as Erin encourages our team to have open conversations, which helps identify challenges early and ensures issues are resolved quickly. I also believe in setting clear expectations while giving team members the independence to manage their responsibilities which creates confidence and accountability in team members.
To create a collaborative and supportive environment, Erin prioritises regular check-ins and team discussions, where everyone can share updates, challenges and ideas. She makes it a point to recognise contributions and celebrate successes, no matter how small, as this reinforces a sense of ownership and motivation for team members.
Ultimately, we as a team aim towards creating a positive team culture where everyone feels supported and motivated to achieve both individual and team goals.
Future Outlook & Personal Connection
What are your long-term goals for the distribution team at Activitar, and how do you envision the company’s growth and development in the future?
My long-term goal for the distribution team at Activitar is to be a part of a strong, supportive and efficient team that works well together and always delivers the best service to our suppliers and OTA partners. I want to work with team members who feel confident, empowered and equipped with the knowledge they need to solve challenges quickly and improve our processes wherever possible.
In terms of Activitar’s growth, I see Activitar growing by expanding our reach on global OTAs while continuing to strengthen our relationships with suppliers. I also envision us using technology in smarter ways to make the distribution process even smoother with accurate data, faster updates, and better reporting. Ultimately, Activitar should be known as a trusted partner in the industry with a team that supports growth,for the company and our supplier.
Outside of work, what activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
Outside of work, I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I enjoy playing games with my younger brother and making the most of every opportunity to create fun, memorable experiences with my loved ones.
