The Evolution of Tourism: From Experience to Engagement

More travelers are finding experiences through videos but are they finding you?

In recent years, the landscape of tourism has undergone a transformative evolution, with a notable shift towards immersive experiences. This evolution has been significantly fueled by the rise of social media platforms notably Instagram and Tik Tok. Travelers are not just seeking inspiration but actively engaging and within seconds booking their next activity.

Here are some tips for increasing visibility and attracting users to your business on Instagram and TikTok:

1. Consistent Branding: Maintain a cohesive visual identity and tone of voice across your Instagram and TikTok profiles. Use consistent colors, fonts, and imagery to create a recognizable brand aesthetic that resonates with your target audience.

2. Engaging Content: Engaging content has shifted from high production format to content that is in the moment. Customers want to engage with storytelling that delves deeper than the norm. You can have a mixture between photos, videos, reels and stories to diversify your content strategy and keep users interested within a reasonable budget.

3. Hashtag Strategy: Create a hashtag to strategically increase the discoverability of your posts on both platforms. Hashtag needs to be prominent that when customers visit they instinctively use the hashtag. This simple act can lead to you trending, reaching a border audience and attracting users within your target audience.

4. Collaborations and Partnerships: Collaborate with influencers, content creators, and complementary brands to expand your reach and tap into their existing audiences. This can be done on a trade exchange basis, offering a free experience in exchange for content.

5. User-Generated Content: User-generated content is your highest form of a customer testimonial. Most customers will naturally capture their experience through either an enticing reel or a simple photo which will be shared. Encourage your customers to tag you and make sure to reshare, repost and engage once posted.

6. Interactive Features: Leverage interactive features such as polls, quizzes, Q&A sessions, and challenges to encourage engagement and participation from your followers. Interactive content encourages users to spend more time on your profile, boosting visibility and increasing the likelihood of them discovering your brand.

7. Consistent Posting Schedule: Maintain a consistent posting schedule to keep your audience engaged and active. Experiment with different posting times and frequency to identify the optimal times when your target audience is most active and likely to engage with your content. Every business is different but posting at least x3 times a week and keeping stories active every day is a good recipe for success.

8. Engagement and Community Building: Actively engage with your followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions promptly. Foster a sense of community by initiating conversations, asking questions, and soliciting feedback from your audience to build stronger connections and loyalty.

9. Analytical Insights: Use insights and analytics provided by Instagram and TikTok to track the performance of your content, understand your audience demographics and behavior, and identify opportunities for optimization. Use this data to refine your content strategy and tailor your approach to better resonate with your audience.

By implementing these tips and strategies, you can increase the visibility of your brand on Instagram and TikTok, attract new followers, and ultimately drive engagement, booking conversions, and loyalty among your target audience.
